Morty is approaching 500 days in an animal shelter after being seized by the police and rescued from one of the worst cases we have seen. Currently living at KCK Animal Services, him and his friends were skin and bones and terrified when they first arrived.

He spent most of his life living outside, secluded in a horse pasture with another dog and horses.

Morty slept on wet grass, survived the frozen winter, and surprisingly survived the hot summers with no shelter. We aren’t really sure how he got food or water. He was an object to his “owner,” a piece of property that he didn’t care for.

Morty has been a member of our family at the shelter for the last 16 months, and we don’t turn our backs on our family. We stand beside them and fight for them.

Morty is a 4-year old Pit Bull mix, a low rider, weighing a solid 70lbs.

Morty's Special Day Out

This week Morty got a special treat. After seeing our post on Facebook, Westlake ACE Hardware knew they wanted to do something special for him.

Every month, Westlake has one special shelter dog come on their very own shopping spree in their pet supply department. This month, it was Morty.

He had the time of his life. Scott told him he could have anything he wanted, and he definitely took them up on their offer.

He picked out treats and toys to take back to the shelter, and Westlake ensured he would have everything he needed for his new home. He left with a leash, collar, bowls, a comfy dog bed, food, tasty treats, and fun toys.

Morty's Ready for His Forever Home

Morty loves people. He loves to show how fast he can run and how high his little chubby body can jump. He is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative, and dewormed.

While Morty has dog friends at the shelter, he would be best in a home with no other pets. Morty has never had to share his attention from a human with another dog or cat, and he gets jealous. He loves to go for car rides, loves to play in the pools, and loves to go for walks.

Morty is a special boy and just wants someone to love him. He deserves to know what it feels like to be a loved family member. He deserves to know what it feels like to lay inside and watch the snow outside but not have to sleep in it. Our boy deserves the very best, and we need your help to find him the very best.

Please help us by sharing Morty’s story. Even if you can’t foster or adopt, you never know who might see him and want a little spotted low rider as a new family member.

To meet Morty, call KCK Animal Services at 913-321-1445.
